You must be at least 21 years old and have held a full, valid driving licence for at least one year at the start of rental.

Yes — Drivers over 75 years of age are not permitted to drive Budget vehicles, as insurance coverage is not available for that age group.

Budget accepts American Express (excluding traveller’s cheque versions), Visa credit cards and MasterCard credit cards.

No — Cash is not accepted. The rental must be charged to a credit card.

When you rent a car, Budget places a pre-authorisation hold on your credit card. This is not a charge but a temporary hold to cover the estimated rental charges and any additional costs (fuel, extra hours, etc). The unused amount will be released after the rental ends.

The amount of the pre-authorisation or security deposit is either fixed — or calculated based on: 

  • The estimated vehicle rental price.
  • Less any amount we accept you have paid towards the rental when you booked — for example, the cost of any accepted voucher.
  • Plus, the excess fees based on the vehicles group.

You will need: 

  • The estimated vehicle rental price.
  • International Driving License / Permit.
  • A valid credit card in the rentar's name.
  • Passport/ID for verification.

No — The Vehicle must remain within Malaysia. Budget does not offer products to allows cross-border travel.

If you purchase CDW, your liability for damage is limited to the excess (as stipulated in your rental agreement). Without CDW, you are fully liable for repair or replacement (or the estimated cost) plus admin fees. In most cases, Collision Damage Waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it's included, it will be stated on your rental agreement and in your booking confirmation email.

If you have Theft Protection (TP) waiver, your liability is limited to the excess stated in the rental agreement. Without TP, you bear full cost of replacement plus related costs.

Yes. The vehicle will normally be supplied with a full tanks of fuel. You must return it to us with same amount of fuel it had in it when you picked it up – usually a full tank – as sown on the factory-installed fuel guage.

We recommend you fill up as close to the return location as you can on the return date, and keep receipt to show us. If you don't return the vehicle with a full tank and you can't show us a receipt for fuel – we will charge you.

You can choose "Fuel Up Front" at booking/pick-up, which lets you return the vehicle with any fuel level. If not, Pay on Return applies. Budget charges 1.5 to 3x the average fuel price for refueling if the tank us not full and there's no valid fuel receipt.

Contact Budget before the original end date/time to extend. Additional days will be charged at the "pay at location" rate. If you overstay without extension, you'll be charged additional full-day rates (beyond grace period) until the vehicle is returned.

Yes, you may return your vehicle to a different Budget location. However, a one-way fee may apply depending on the stations involved.
